Grieving and Praying for the Family in America

I am deeply grieved by the news of yet another school shooting, this time in an elementary school. I am praying for the people of Newtown, who must be experiencing unspeakable horror. May the Lord heal the brokenhearted.

As I reflect on what this means for Christians, my thoughts are directed to the wisdom of Solomon, in Proverbs 24:10-11:

“Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?”

My prayer is that the Lord would use His people to sound the alarm all the more loudly and call parents to bring their children safely home, for good.
